ABOUT KRISTEN
Kristen was magic. To say she had an impact on people is an understatement, because she truly touched SO many lives. She was an exceptional, creative force and would do ANYTHING she could to help others.
Kristen was an incredibly talented artist and designer. She was sunshine in human form- always smiling, laughing (incredibly loud!), and radiating her energy. Her infectious spirit and her love of laughter rubbed off on everyone who crossed paths with her, even if it was just for a moment. She made everyone who met her feel seen, understood, and incredibly loved. In a world where people are afraid to show their true selves, she lived boldly, fearlessly, and unapologetically as herself.
Her passion for life and the things she loved knew no bounds - and one of those major passions was textiles. It was her true calling, and she fully immersed herself in the world of natural dyes, embellishment, and pattern design while studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Kristen went on to focus her talents on careers in the worlds of fashion and carpet design, where she created beautiful, thoughtful designs. She was just beginning her journey as a talented, passionate, creative woman leaving her mark on the world when her life was tragically stolen from her.
It is now up to us to continue to carry Kristens light into this world. Please join us in establishing the Kristen McDevitt Memorial Scholarship through the Savannah College of Art and Design, to honor the legacy and life of our incredible friend. Through the implementation of this endowed scholarship, the future generation of textile designers will learn about Kristen, her passion for design, and the impact she had in this world. Her legacy of kindness, inclusion, and her passion for creativity and life will continue to live on forever, and through this scholarship, Kristen will continue to inspire others for decades to come.
